Absorbing God’s Word
“Challenge” “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. John 15:16
Applying God’s Word
Fortunately for me, I had a brother two years older than myself. Unfortunately for Jimmy, our parents made him take me with him everywhere he went. I knew his friends
better than my own. When they chose sides for a game of football, I was always the last one picked. They resented my tagging along.
After high school, though, I looked for acceptance in a world that was willing to choose me. Sadly, it came at a cost to my personal integrity and my relationship with God.
I was thirty-four when my father died. He was a great man. Selfishly, I asked God to send another man like my father into my life. In April of 1987 God answered that prayer by sending me several men from Christians in Commerce. That’s when I heard God say for the first time, “Jack, I CHOOSE YOU.”
