“Where’s The Love?”

Absorbing God’s Word

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23

Applying God’s Word

If the “Gifts” of the Holy Spirit are real, we will experience God’s love when they manifest. We will also witness God’s love in the fruit that His gifts produce.

God’s love is still very much alive, but self-centeredness and indifference continue to be major obstacles to its effectiveness. It reminds me of a story:

Once upon a time a community of loving monks lived and worked together. God’s love impacted all of them and everyone in the land. Years went by though and that loving reputation dwindled along with their numbers. The Abbot called on the wisdom of a good friend and Rabbi. He asked “What do you see as our problem?” The Rabbi told the Abbot, “Your monks have become unloving and indifferent.”

I sense that our world resembled the story above, prior to Covid19. If anything can save the day, it would be God’s love. He’s used it again and again from the beginning of time.

Accounting of God’s Word

Am I loving or unloving right now? Am I indifferent?
