“The Best Part”?

Absorbing God’s Word

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3

Applying God’s Word

I used to complain about the forty days of Lent, but loved Easter Sunday. Then, I found out that the Easter season lasted another 50 days. “What? Ninety days in total?”

All those years, I was missing the best part. I focused more on Jesus death than I did His resurrection or the time leading up to Pentecost Sunday. Easter isn’t one Sunday out of the year. Easter is three hundred and sixty-five days long.

It was the Easter season of 1987, when I recommitted my life to daily prayer and invited the Holy Spirit to play an active role in my life. Easter started for me back then and has lasted ever since.

Accounting of God’s Word

Is Easter over for me, already? Am I missing the best part of Easter? Have I invited Jesus and His the Holy Spirit to play an active role in my life?
