Absorbing God’s Word
“Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit. When he had said this, he breathed his last.” Luke 23:46
Applying God’s Word
Admittedly, in my early adult years, Easter was a time for family reunions, Easter egg hunts, beautiful Easter baskets, good food and tilting a few brews. Easter is still a celebration, but it has become more about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, more about Him than me.
On Good Friday, for the last thirty years, I have read the Passion of Christ, usually from Jesus betrayal to His crucifixion. The first few years, I read from the bible. Now, I read it from “The Poem of the Man-God” by Maria Valtorta.
Maria wrote the five books about the life of Jesus, between 1943 and 1947. Even though they are controversial, I believe what she has written to be the truth.
I have never finished reading her description of Jesus crucifixion without breaking down. It is incredibly powerful!
Accounting of God’s Word
Is my Easter more about Jesus or more about me?
