Luke 11:27 – “What A Gift”?

Absorbing God’s Word

As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” Luke 11:27

Applying God’s Word

Years ago, my mom asked our daughter Jackie what she wanted for Christmas. Our daughter said, “The story of your life grandma.” I was touched at Jackie’s request and even more touched that my mom actually wrote it.

What a gift my mom’s life story is. She was born Doris Marie Welter on May 19, 1924 and died December 25, 2014 on her favorite holiday, Christmas. She loved the Lord and the Lord used her to distribute His love to anyone and everyone she encountered, every day of her life.

She ends her memoirs saying, “I feel truly blessed with what the Lord has given me.”

I have had two incredible mothers; the mother who gave me birth and nursed me as well as the mother who gave birth to and nursed my Lord Jesus, Mary.

Accounting of God’s Word

What part of myself am I giving to Jesus this Christmas? How is God asking me to distribute His love to others?
