2Timothy 2:15 “You Can’t Handle The Truth” ?

Absorbing God’s Word

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2Timothy 2:15

Applying God’s Word

Remember the movie in 1992 called “A Few Good Men”? Tom Cruise says to Jack Nicholson, “I want the truth.” Jack responds by saying, “You can’t handle the truth.” It’s a verbal exchange that I will never forget.

Haven’t we all wished for a bright light to shine on the truth about someone else? It’s different when the light of truth is pointed toward us, huh? We pray that our sins will go unnoticed.

I sin every day. God doesn’t care if the rest of the world sees my dark side or not. He’s shining a light on my sins, so that I can see them, admit to them, repent of them and improve through change. God wants me to be a worker who does not need to be ashamed; a worker who will correctly handle the truth.

Accounting of God’s Word

Do I spend more time demanding the truth about other’s mistakes than my own? What sin of mine is God shining a light on presently?
