Absorbing God’s Word
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” Titus 2:11-12
Applying God’s Word
I heard recently that the average cell phone user checks their phone 100 times a day. It made me think of my own use of the phone. The only place I don’t take my phone is in the shower or when I go swimming pool. It’s a way of life and I rationalize my obsessive behavior by saying it’s for work and ministry, etc.
My phone has become more like the teddy-bear and/or the security blanket I used to carry around as an infant. What was that Master Card commercial saying? “Don’t leave home without it.” Fortunately, our family has a rule about cell phone use at meals; use it and lose it.
Accounting of God’s Word
Is this a new-age addiction? Have I replaced talking to folks in person with a text? Do I check in with God that often?
