Ephesians 6:1-3 – “I Got It Dad”

Absorbing God’s Word

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother”— which is the first commandment with a promise – that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1-3

Applying God’s Word

Happy Father’s Day!

Being a father and grandfather is one of my greatest joys.

Both my heavenly father and my earthly father have been incredible mentors for me. I really have tried to honor my parents throughout my life. Even though they are no longer here, it’s still important to honor them. It’s even more important to honor my heavenly Father.

Right before my father died thirty-seven years ago, he encouraged me to have a personal relationship with Jesus. I was young, cocky and driven toward the material things of this world. I thought the request was unreasonable and dismissed it immediately. .

I think about my dad often and would give anything to hold his hands in mine for a moment of prayer. I know now that my dad’s request came directly from our Heavenly Father. I got it dad! I’m doing it dad! I love you dad!

How am I honoring my parents and God?
