Absorbing God’s Word
“But you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.” Deuteronomy 15:8
Applying God’s Word
Louise and I had just finished an enjoyable night of dining and dancing.
It was a warm night. Therefore, I suggested we get a refreshing cold drink somewhere. The place we found had a man sitting outside next to a shopping cart full of belongings.
While waiting for our order, the Lord urged me to introduce myself to the man and ask him if we could buy him something to eat and drink. He smiled and said, “That’s very thoughtful. A sandwich and green tea please.”
When we brought him his food, he told us that he was waiting on an approval for disability. We prayed with him, left him a copy of “Resisting Happiness” and placed money inside as a bookmark.
Our efforts were only sufficient for Anthony’s immediate needs. The measurement of our gift wasn’t important. Opening our hands and our hearts to him was.
Accounting of God’s Word
“Has God asked me to open my hand and/or my heart to someone recently?”
